Pondicherry Engineering College is a premier Government Engineering Institution funded by the Union Territory of Pondicherry, India. The college began its operation in 1984 under the VII Five Year Plan. It is an autonomous Institution managed by a Board of Governors. The College is affiliated to Pondicherry University. The college has been achieving one milestone after another since its establishment.

Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC Pondicherry) is situated at Pillaichavady of Pondicherry (UT), India, which is about 12 KM from the Railway Station and bus-stand in Pondicherry city. The average temperature ranges from 25oC to 35oC throughout the year. The campus is situated about 160 KM South of Chennai on the shore of the Bay of Bengal. The campus is well connected by town via roads and public- transports. The buses that come from Chennai via East Coast Road stop near the campus. Auroville, International city is just 3 KM away from the campus. Recently PEC Pondicherry is ranked 53 in Engineering Category by NIRF India Ranking 2018.

Pondicherry Engineering College courses are offered in Engineering and Sciences /Humanities streams. The engineering department of College provides B.Tech and M.Tech in Civil, CSE, Mechanical, ECE, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering, etc. Sciences & Humanities department allows students to opt courses like; M.Sc, MCA, M.Phil, etc. College also facilitates Students to pursue Research through the Ph.D. program. The College offers only B.Tech courses at UG level, but at PG and Ph.D. level college offers courses like; M.Sc.(Material Science & Technology), MCA, etc. PEC Pondicherry UG & PG courses admissions are made on the basis of the guidelines laid by the Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC) and CENTAC-PG respectively, constituted by the Government of Puducherry every academic year.

A newly developed auditorium with a capacity of 750 seats is the latest addition to PEC Pondicherry Facilities.
